In Sixth class, we have settled in with our new teacher, Ms. NĂ Thuathaigh. At the moment, we are in the middle of doing projects about either the London Olympic Games 2012, Life in the Trenches, or World War II. We are very glad that our Confirmation Ceremony went as planned. We wish everybody in Sixth class and in Fourth and Fifth the best of luck when they go to Navan to sing. Our Micra-T and Sigma-T tests are coming up. We feel very nervous about them because they will decide which level we will get in English and Maths for Secondary School! This Tuesday, we will be starting a science experiment to do with how plants grow. By Ryan Hanley

It has been a very hectic few weeks here in sixth class. We have been reading the book Reaching The Heights. We have just completed it. It is very good for all ages.We have been learning about the Irish war of independence. In 1916 the Easter Rising took place. Irish rebels surrendered, 15 leaders were brought to Kilmainham Jail and they were shot..We have started playing the tin whistle. We know how to play Mary had a little lamb, twinkle twinkle and dawning of the day.We hope to  improve as we go along. We have finished fractions. It was difficult but we got through them in the end. Parent teacher meetings have finished now. We hope we all got good reports. We have just started doing ActivEngage problem solving on the laptops. It is very fun and better than doing it in are copies. We hope to post a few more blogs in the upcoming  future and learn a few more songs in the tin whistle.

In the past week we have learned about Tom Crean. Tom was a Kerryman. Before he went on his last expidition he was a sailor in the British Navy. He went into the Navy when he was only fiftheen. His ship crashed into a lump of ice and they had to get into the little life boats. Around twenty men had to go into just three lifeboats. Three men including Tom went to get help. Tom's  twn friends could not go further so Tom had to go on his own to find help, Tom walked 50 miles and thee three men got rescued and he went down in history for that.

We have have just done our Christmas test and we hope everybody does well.

Merry Christmas and hope Santa comes to ye all.

This year in Sixth class so far has been very fun. Whether it be making a gezzer with Diet Coke and Mentoes or learning about Martain Luther King.
We have learnt about numerous topics in History. Some of those being The Native Americans , The History Of Halloween and Women in History. My favourite was by far learning about Muhammad Ali.
In Art we have done a lot more than previous years. I could name out all of the things we've made but that would take up the whole page, so Im just going to name a few. We've made Nights in shining armor out of gum paper and tinfoil , Elephants out of coloured felt paper , colourful mirrors with a face beside them and Tribal clay masks. Art has been very fun so far this year
In football this year our school team got to the semi - final only to be knocked out by Kildysart. We were very dissapointed about getting knocked out. I am captain for football and Cian o' Rourke is Captain for hurling. So far I think this Year has been very very fun.!!!

Today is Friday, test day ugghhh!!!! The class results are getting better slowly but surely! Today we had four tests English spellings, Irish spellings, briathra and European countries and capitals. Did you no that the capital of Iceland is Reykjavik?
Yesterday we tasted the Ice-cream that we made on Wednesday. It was delightful (well the vanilla was!!)
Next week we are getting student teachers for the next two weeks Ms.Curtin and Ms.Whitney.
Thats all for now,  By Ciara Byrnes!! :)

This week in 6th class!

This week we made ice-cream. We made chocolate and vanilla. It was really nice. I loved the vanilla  ice-cream  it tasted like the ice-cream  we buy in the shops. The chocolate ice-cream was ok it was very rich. The group I was in put loads of spoons of coco into the chocolate one. You probably want to know how we made the ice-cream! Well we got two ziplock bags that closed and then we put one bag inside the other. Then we put milk and cream in and put some vanilla essence and sugar in the bag too. Then we shook the bag and put it in the freezer. We did the same for the chocolate ice-cream, but we put coco instead of vanilla essence. For art we made Picasso mirrors. It was really fun! We got a Picasso drawing and cut out the middle then we stuck on a mirror sheet on the back of it. Then we coloured it in. That's all for now .

My poem for Sir

Up goes the pheasant,
Bang he's dead,
A shotgun cartridge through the head,
Out runs the fox,
Out runs the hounds,
Bang bang bang,
And the fox falls to the ground,
Out jumps the deer looking around,
Bang goes the rifle,
And the deer plops to the ground,
Away runs the rabbit,
As fast as the wind,
But what he doesnt know,
Is that there's dogs around the bend,
Up leaps the trout,
Just over my net,
He just got lucky I stated,
As I began to sweat,
Down swoops the pigeon,
Collecting some food,
Sir get better,
This poem is dedicated to you
